On October 8, 1977 I
gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and we named him Gino Joseph Ventimiglia. As
a baby Gino was happy but sickly. He had severe Asthma and to keep him from
going to the doctors frequently each day we learned how to give him injections
of medication to help his lungs breath. Sometimes the thought of it is so
ironic. He grew up before our eyes in the midst of one new brother and one new
sister. added to the family when he was a teen-ager. I thought it would be great
growing up in a big family and I loved all of them and wanted all of them to
just be happy.
Gino was good all thru school until his senior year and all unexplainable
behavior started to surface. I often wonder what I missed when I was in a fog
raising younger children. He got a full paid scholarship to Wayne State
University and there is where he seemed to get lost. We were busy raising our
family and building a new house and all of a sudden I noticed things were not
getting better and Gino wasn't outgrowing his teenage behavior.
In April of 2002 Joe and I were on top of the world and we went on a cruise to
celebrate 25 years together. Thank God for Joe he is my rock, my world.
When I arrived back home I didn't recognize my son. He came and ask us for help
that continued until he left us for heaven.
If anyone here reading this wants to do drugs for the first time or one last
time try to remember Gino before you do. Gino will continue to live in our
hearts until we see him on the other side.
We love you Gino. it is tough trying to dance again without you in our lives.
Love Karen Ventimiglia

~ Two Years With Out Gino ~
Two
years use to seem like an eternity to me.
Now in the blink of my eye, you have been gone two years and it seems like
yesterday, but sometimes seems like forever.
Not a day goes by Gino, that I don't think of you.
Not that never ending obsessive thoughts of you that were there the
first year, but always everyday.
Somehow in the last two years I have managed to remember happy times of
you, times that are held in my heart forever.
Gino, I live each day hoping you give me the strength to keep
trudging along although my heart is still so broken.
I made a vow to myself and to God the day you left that your death
will not be in vain.
I reach out even when My heart is hurting to help others struggling
with the same disease you did.
Somehow that seems to sooth my soul, and I know you are there,
helping me every step of the way.
I only live this life, because of Gods promise.
Gods promise that our chain wont be broken forever, but that we will be together
again.
I hope you are watching Jack and Charlotte grow up. I know you would be so proud
of them.
And Jack, You know he plays his guitar for you!!!!!! A passion I
hope he never loses.
Charlotte has the same exact smile as you, and sometimes when I see it, I think
of your beautiful smile.
Gino the day you left I thought I could never go on. How could I?
My first born, son was gone, leaving me to pick up the pieces.
Please stay close to us, my sweet boy, knowing you are near brings me comfort.
I love you, and miss you until the day I die.

Love Mom
